Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Luiza Gheorghe-Youssefi, Board Certified Optometrist

Dr Luiza Gheorghe-Youssefi received her Bachelor’s degree from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada where she then transferred to Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL. As a contact lens specialist, Dr. Youssefi is experienced in fitting soft lenses, rigid gas permeable, and scleral lenses for patients with post-surgical, keratoconic, bifocal and/or otherwise difficult-to-fit prescriptions.

In addition, Dr. Youssefi fits prosthetic or cosmetic contact lenses for disfigured eyes. Her other areas of professional interest are primary eye care and post-op management for patients undergoing cataract removal, glaucoma management, corneal transplants, cross linking, intacts, and refractive surgery such as Lasik and PRK.

As a member of the Connecticut Association of Optometrists, the American Optometric Association, and The Contact Lens Society, Dr Youssefi is active within the optometric community. She is very passionate about caring for her patients and is dedicated to her professional career.

In her spare time, Dr Youssefi enjoys painting, cooking, Zumba dancing, travelling and spending time with her family.

Meet Our Staff

Dr. Lauren Plass, Optometrist

Dr. Lauren Plass received her Bachelors of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from Missouri State. While completing her undergraduate degree, she worked as an optician for Sears Optical, which further solidified her decision to pursue a career in Optometry. Dr. Plass then moved across the country to Ft. Lauderdale and attended NOVA Southeastern for her Doctor of Optometry degree. After graduation, she decided to move back to the Northeast, where she is originally from, to complete a residency in ocular disease at the VA Hospital in Newington, CT. Currently, Dr. Plass works part time at Meriden Eye Care, so she can spend more time at home with her two young kids. Dr. Plass performs comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens fittings, assesses for binocular vision conditions, does post-op visits for refractive and cataract surgeries, and also treats and manages ocular disease. Aside from Optometry, Dr. Plass enjoys bicycling, pickleball, golf, skiing, and reading.
